Fasten your seat belts!

At the check – in – desk

Agent: Good afternoon! Where are you flying to today?

Passenger Good afternoon. I’m flying to Amsterdam.

Agent: May I have your passport/ ID, please?

Passenger:  Sure. Here you are.

Agent: Thank you. Do you have any bags to check (registrare) ?

Passenger: Yes, I have this bag /these two bags. / No, I just have a carry – on bag/ hand bag (bagaglio a mano).

Agent: OK, please put your bag on the scale (bilancia). It is within the weight limit.

Agent:  Here is your boarding pass (carta d’imbarco) – your flight (volo) boards (imbarca) at gate 17B at 6.45. Your seat number is 22F.

Passenger: Thank you.

At the security check

Agent: Please put your bags and jacket in the tray/bin (contenitore).

Passenger: Do I need to take off (togliere) my shoes/ hat / belt/ jacket?

Agent: Yes, and please take any metal objects and electronic devices out of you bag /pockets (take out= togliere) . Now please walk through (passare attraverso) the scanner.

(Beep sound)

Agent: Do you have anything in your pockets – coins, keys?

Passenger: Let me see. Oh, yes, I have my car keys… sorry.

Agent: Okay, walk through again, please. Alright now! Have a nice flight (buon viaggio).

Passenger: Thank you. Bye.

At the boarding gate

Gate agent: Ladies and gentlemen, flight FR540 to Amsterdam is now boarding at gate 17B. Passengers with priority pass, please come forward (= venire avanti). Have your boarding pass and identification ready.

Passenger: Excuse me, when can I board?

Gate agent: May I see your boarding pass?

Passenger: Sure. Here it is.

Gate agent: Do you have priority pass?

Passenger: No, I don’t.

Gate agent: We will call you later, then.

Passenger: Okay, thank you!

(Final announcement to board before the plane leaves)

Gate agent: This is the last boarding call (= chiamata d’imbarco) for flight FR540 to Amsterdam. Please proceed to gate 17B right now.

On the plane

Flight attendant: Welcome aboard! May I see your boarding pass?

Passenger: Of course.

Flight attendant: Your seat is 22F, by the window. It’s just down the aisle (= corridoio).

Passenger: Thank you!

Flight attendant: Would you like (would like= desiderare) a snack?

Passenger: Yes, please. What do you have?

Flight attendant: Crisps, biscuits and chocolate snacks.

Passenger:: I’ll have the crisps.

Flight attendant: Anything (= qualcosa) to drink? We have water, juice, soda, tea, and coffee.

Quest’ultima conversazione si svolge nell’aeroporto di arrivo, nel caso in cui il bagaglio non venga consegnato.

At the baggage claim office

Passenger: Excuse me, my suitcase is missing on the carousel/delivery belt (nastro trasportatore).

Staff member: I’m sorry to hear that. Can you describe your bag?

Passenger: Yes, it’s a brown, medium size suitcase with a yellow tag (= etichetta).

Staff member: May I see your boarding pass, please?

Passenger: Yes, here it is.

Staff member: Thank you. Let me check (= mi faccia controllare)… Your bag is still in Venice. It will arrive on the next flight. We can deliver (= consegnare) it to your hotel tomorrow.

Passenger: Ok, fine.

Staff member: Can I have your contact details?

Passenger: Sure, I’m staying at the Splendid Hotel. My phone number is 666 555.

Staff member: Thank you. We’ll call you when your bag arrives.

Passenger: Thank you very much for your help.
